Daiwa Freams 2508 A

Daiwa Freams 2508 A

Love it when the post man shows up – just got my hands on the new Daiwa Freams 2508A last week.

This isn’t a review by the way just a quick glance at the features and my first reactions when opening the box.

For the money (around ¬£125) it comes with a serious spec list and in terms of looks and well it isn’t too shabby looking either! The aesthetics¬†are a lot better than the old model Theory and I think it also looks prettier than the Ballistic, but that is just me!

Technical Specification:

  • Magseal
  • Automatic Tournament Drag
  • Super Metal Body
  • Digigear
  • ABS spool
  • Air Rotor
  • Air Bail
  • Twist Buster II

As you would expect it is extremely smooth and slick … plus I like the chunkier bail arm which comes on the Daiwa reels at the moment.

I opted for the 2500 size to allow me to use it for my sea trout, perch, wrasse and light bass set ups – it sits perfectly on my 7 to 8 foot rods and whilst it isn’t super light (like Certate) it isn’t particularly heavy either – if that makes sense!? (265g)

I have it spooled up with Daiwa J-Braid, 9kg, 0.16mm in Chartreuse – currently giving the braid a go this season. I have been using YGK and Sunline (with not issues or complaints)but it’s about time I gave some other lines some water and see how they get on.

First thing I noticed about the braid is how thin it is for the braking strain … it feel super smooth so time will tell I guess.

I’ll return to my thoughts after a few outing and see how it is standing up to some of my old faithfuls but it won’t be until the end of the season before I have a definitive set of thoughts so stay tuned.

Tight Lines.
